The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival is coming out swinging this Sunday, July 5, with Jake Gyllenhaal’s new film Southpaw. It’s a gritty boxing movie from the director of Training Day and writer of Sons of Anarchy. But the festival is not just about audiences sitting back and watching a movie. Mr. Gyllenhaal will be at the screening to answer questions after the film, which will be screened at the Performing Arts Center at the high school. Showtime is at 8 p.m.

The event is also a benefit for the festival and those who want some alone time with Mr. Gyllenhaal can pay $500 for a small dinner party with him.

The next film to be screened on Wednesday, July 8, is Prophet’s Prey, a documentary abut Warren Jeffs, the cultish leader of the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints.
