Last fall, Martha’s Vineyard officially became sister islands with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a cluster of islands in the Caribbean.

This weekend, representatives from the two islands will further discuss the Sister Islands Initiative. A delegation from St. Vincent will be on hand, and representatives from both islands will make presentations. Attendees will learn more about the history of the relationship and potential future steps, including the possibility of education and health care exchanges between teachers and students, and arts, crafts and culture exchanges.

The event takes place Saturday, July 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Tisbury library. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
