Not all the action is on the beach during the summer. Things are also starting to heat up on the ice at the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena.

The ice arena celebrated its opening day on July 13. The rink is open for public skates, power skating clinics and Skating Schools.

Opening day also marked the beginning of the girls summer hockey program. Pick-up hockey for seventh graders through 12th graders is scheduled for Monday nights from July 13 through August 17; on Wednesday night, all are welcome for skills sessions from July 15 through August 19.

The skates begin at 7 p.m. most nights; six skates are $90 and a walk-on single session is $20.
