In advance of the upcoming Cinema Circus event featuring shows, face painting, workshops, clowning and films, two Kid Critics reviewed some of the short films that will be shown on the afternoon of August 15. The event will be held at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury from 3 to 7 p.m. Sisters Anna and Emma Peterson of Farmington, Conn., ages 9 and 7 respectively, shared their views after a sneak preview.

Anna: “I really liked the first one [Lambs] because the parent sheep were doing everything, and they expected the baby to do it. But then the baby did the first thing, and then did something entirely different than what the parents wanted the baby to do. The baby tried to do the rest of the things — like the grass part — he ate the grass, but he spit it out because it tasted terrible. Then he ate all the daisies, and then his father got mad at him.”

Emma: “Can I tell you about Lambs? It was very funny because the characters were very funny. I really like that part where he shaved himself and spots showed up on him. He put color dye on his fur and shaved it to circles.”

Anna: “I liked Me Jane [about Jane Goodall] because it sort of described her growing up. And she had a favorite book and everything. So I really liked it because it was talking about her when she was little and explained when she was older. ”

Emma: “I liked Me Jane because it described her life, also what she liked to do, and her favorite stuffed animal. My favorite stuffed animal is named Cuddles.”

Anna: “It’s a giant three-foot-long shark.”

Emma: “A girl. Mrs. Cuddles. I got it from SeaWorld in Florida.”

Anna: “I liked the one about Carola because Carola wasn’t scared of anything and the monster was just saying: “I’m just bad. I’ve been bad for a thousand years. It sounded like something Emma would do.”

Emma: “Yeah! Sometimes I get really angry.”

Anna: “At me!”

Emma: “Yeah!”

Anna: “When something is trying to be scary, I hide.”

Emma: “I run.”

Anna: “I recommend the Lambs movie to anybody who gets a chance to watch it because it was really funny that you got to see, like these two parent lambs acting all proper and everything, and then there’s this baby lamb who’s totally out of shape.”

Emma: “I think, I recommend Crush because an elephant steps on a daisy and then he is really mad he steps on a daisy. And he finally fixes it when he goes to sleep, and then the next day he notices that he broke the tree and he tries to help the tree by putting his trunk up and helping the tree, and then he couldn’t get the tree back in shape, and it starts all over again.”

While the girls are leaving the Island right before Cinema Circus on Saturday, they enthusiastically recommended that everyone attend.
