Dan VanLandingham is a co-owner of The Workshop Gallery in Vineyard Haven. Granted, the Island is not very large, especially now that the traffic has ebbed, but for those in Edgartown on Friday night there will be a reception for the young Vineyard artist at Mikel Hunter’s fashion store, art gallery, cool place to hang out — it is all of the above.

Mr. VanLandingham’s work ranges from Vineyard scenes to New York city landscapes, waterfalls and rocky mountains. Nature and the use of color are signature themes in his work.

Mikel Hunter is located at 11 Winter street in Edgartown, and the reception is from 5 to 8 p.m., with Pickpocket playing in the courtyard.
