Mezzo-soprano Lia Kahler has continually performed a fall concert on the Vineyard that is part celebration of music and part fundraiser for various causes on the Island. This year’s concert is Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown and the cause is homelessness and veterans.

Ms. Kahler has long ties to the Island. Her father, Albert Littlefield, was born and grew up on what is now the Polly Hill Arboretum. On Sunday, Ms. Kahler will be performing with Philip Dietterich on organ and Richard Gordon on piano. The program will feature songs, spirituals, arias and solos for piano and organ. Tickets are $15 for seniors and $10 for students. There will be a silent auction starting at 2 p.m. and the concert begins at 3 p.m.

The concert is called A Place for Us and Ms. Kahler is hoping to raise $40,000 for the Island Clergy Emergency Fund for the Homeless and the Veteran’s Assistance Fund.

The concert is sponsored by the United Methodist Society of Martha’s Vineyard, Inc. For tickets call 617-763-6506 or email marilynjacksonadams@gmail.com.
