Many of you native Islanders have had the pleasure I just experienced, so rare off-Island. About four of my childhood friends, ladies that I was in kindergarten through eighth grade with, arrived at our house for an impromptu reunion. Teri was amazed I still have friends from kindergarten. Many of us don’t as we lead our nomadic lives. Mary Ellen Wilson, Michelle Giustino, Michelle Grieco and her cousin Marybeth joined us for a pizza fest at Nonna’s. Of course they all remember Mom and her playing the church organ. We connected by telephone with one of our favorites, Barbara Kunzelman, at her home in Utah. The names of all our old classmates just rolled off our tongues as well as many of the pranks we played in Catholic school. Same time, next week?

Teri and I brought Silvio and Lil’Bit to the blessing of the animals on St. Francis of Assisi day at St. Bernard’s on Sunday. Teddy Paul, the cat, made himself scarce before the parade. We will have to have father to the house for Teddy Paul. Father Morris presided over at least 30 dogs, several cats, parrots, parakeets, a Macaw, a turtle and who knows what else in the little carriers. I hear Father Nagle did the honors on Island with about 20 dogs, a mouse and a rabbit. Same time, next year.

My young neighbor Chyenne Cimeno, grown up to be a beautiful woman, wife and mother, reported on her glorious wedding on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Sailing Camp Park in Oak Bluffs. The weather was warm, and the day was perfect, Chyenne is now Mrs. Ken Ward. The attendants were: bridesmaids, friend Jennifer, sisters Ashley and Amber, and baby Emmalee Ward; groomsmen, Willy, John, Kyle and Ashley’s baby Jude. The justice of the peace was Helene Hall who kept it short, funny and meaningful. Nadine Barrett outdid herself with the catering job. Many thanks to her terrific staff. Eli D’Agostino was the photographer, taking pictures that made me feel like I was there. And they all lived happily ever after.

I hear through the grapevine that Ashley Willoughby is moving to Texas with Sam and baby Jude. Another young girlfriend from my neighborhood who attended my tea parties. Better not leave before I see you, Sam, and the baby, Ash.

The Vineyard Haven Public Library offers the Academy Award winning movie, Amadeus, next Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the program room. The movie is rated R, and the popcorn and cider are provided by Betty. I saw this again last winter and highly recommend it. Betty also wants you to know that the whole series of Philip Weinstein’s talks on Anna Karenina are available on MVTV. Be sure to use all capitals when searching for it.

Only two more shows of the great play Visitors by Barney Norris, directed by MJ Bruder Munafo at our Vineyard Playhouse. The Patricia Neal Stage is the site of a 7:30 p.m. showing Friday night and Saturday night. If you arrive after 6 p.m., any unsold tickets go for $25 cash. What a deal. While you are there, enjoy the art of Joan Margot Smith, on view and for sale through Oct. 16.

There has been another passing that I am pained to report. Condolences to the friends and family of Chloe Elizabeth Bersani McLane. Too beautiful, too talented, much, much too young. Please, young adults, consider your actions and the effect on all your family and friends.
