On Sunday, Nov. 1, the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society is teaming up with the Martha’s Vineyard Youth Leadership Initiative to host a free movie event for Island youth. Everyone 18 and under will be admitted free to the 4 p.m. screening of He Named Me Malala at the MV Film Center. The movie is a documentary about Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, who was nearly killed by the Taliban after speaking out on behalf of girls’ education. Eventually, she became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The movie is written and directed by Davis Guggenheim, a seasonal resident of the Island.

After the screening there will be a dialogue led by Gia Winsryg-Ulmer and MVYLI youth.
