The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks have named Jessica Burnham as the team’s new vice president.

Ms. Burnham had served as the collegiate baseball team’s host family coordinator, a role she will continue to fill, the Sharks said in a press release.

Sharks president and director of baseball operations Kyle Fiore said Ms. Burnham has been with the baseball club since they began play in 2011, volunteering hundreds of hours in her host family coordinating duties. “The VP position is a natural progression for her, and well-deserved recognition of her contributions to the organization,” he said in the press release.

“The Sharks mean a lot to me and I’m honored to be considered for the VP position,” Ms. Burnham said. “I feel very good about the direction of the team and believe 2016 will be a tremendous year, on and off the field.”
