We are getting to the part of winter some people are looking forward to or some are dreading. It has gotten cold and I know that some people are packing up for their winter down south. Then there are those who can’t wait to have their skis on and swooping down those mountains.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Mark Bernard and Arianna Bonner, who celebrated Nov. 31; Daniel Serpa, Nov. 24; Griffin Craig, Marina Nunes, Nov. 25; Jack Oteri, Robbie Seaton and Avery Simmons, Nov. 26; Kathryn Cuthbert, Kevin Pinto, Nov. 27; Ava Townes, Nov. 28; Edward Cherry, Nov. 29; Hannah Tate-Arena, Dec. 2; and to Jasmyn Hershey who celebrated her day Dec. 3.
Well the countdown is on. We at work have been getting ready for Christmas in Edgartown and our event is on next Friday night, or as I call it the kick-off to a great weekend. We have been decorating, filling pots with greens, making wreaths, putting trees in cars and trucks. It has been fun. The standing joke is, “Don’t stand still too long or you will be wrapped in white lights.”
The television shows are turning to Christmas unless you watch the Hallmark Channel which has been playing Christmas movies for a month now, and of course Charlie Brown has been on and Rudolph was on Tuesday night. I can’t believe that Charlie Brown has been on for 50 years and I have probably watched each year. Boy, Charlie Brown is getting old.
Tina and Jonathan Polleys and their children Audrey and JJ traveled to Agawam to visit Jonathan’s mother Barbara Polleys Parker and husband Charlie. It was Barbara’s birthday and they had a great celebration.
Many of you will remember Barbara from working at the Edgartown Hardware on Main street for many years. Also, she was very active in the Eastern Star, and sang in the choir at the Federated Church.
Keep up with the Gazette’s activity page as there are many great things to do coming up this month. I know everyone will be busy with Christmas and all the projects that come with it, but you may need a few hours of down time. Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
