Cape Cod Five recently hosted its 16th annual educational mini-grants awards and reception at Cape Cod Community College. During the event, 106 grants were presented by the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust. Twelve grants went to teachers at three Martha’s Vineyard schools.
Projects funded this year for Vineyard schools included the design and testing of magnetic levitation transportation systems at West Tisbury School; summer reading materials for Oak Bluffs School students to help maintain reading achievement levels gained during the academic year; build-it-yourself computers that will allow West Tisbury School students to learn to code, make a wireless server and reprogram Minecraft; and Lego robotics kits for Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School students to construct and program during a two-week summer camp.
Public school teachers from all grade levels on the Cape, Islands, and Southeastern Massachusetts communities served by the bank may submit applications for mini-grants in the fall.
