High school science students are busy this week testing designs, tweaking plans, and putting finishing touches on scientific inquiries. See the fruits of their labors next weekend at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s 17th annual science and engineering fair. It will be held Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6, at the high school cafeteria and library.

More than 100 students will be presenting investigative and engineering projects, and junior and senior physics students will compete in a wind turbine competition that tests design and electric output. The fair is organized by science teacher Jackie Hermann.

Project judging will take place Friday afternoon; the 35 judges are scientists and engineers from the Island and off-Island.

The fair will be open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. The awards presentation will take place at 11 a.m.
