The Department of Marine Fisheries has rescheduled a meeting about whelk fishery management for March 30 at 9 a.m. at Edgartown Town Hall.

Many Island fishermen were not able to attend an earlier whelk meeting on Jan. 23 because of a snowstorm. The DMF rescheduled the meeting because the whelk fishery is important to many Island fishermen.

Topics of discussion include compliance issues, how to improve the method for gauging whelks, gear loss and trap tag replacement. There will also be time for public comment.
