Looking at photographs in an art gallery is an entirely different experience than scrolling through an iPhone. Featherstone Center for the Arts blends the digital age with art installation in the first show of their 20th season: an Instagram art exhibit.

#CelebrateFeatherstone will feature images posted on the photo sharing app with the hashtag #celebratefeatherstone; the photos could be taken anywhere in the world, featuring everyday moments ranging from nature and art to family and friends. The deadline to submit was Feb. 25, and Instagram artists could submit as many photos as they wished.

The opening reception will be Sunday, Feb. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m., and the show runs through March 9. For more information visit featherstoneart.org.

The Instagram art theme continues in March at ArtSpace Gallery in West Tisbury, for an exhibit of Instagram prints by Nan Byrne of East Chop (@heatspell on Instagram).

The Art of Instagram: Dispatches from E-Chop will be on display from March 10 through March 15 from noon to 2 p.m.

To learn more about Instagram and Ms. Byrne’s work, attend the opening reception on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at ArtSpace. Email Ms. Byrne at surferstory@gmail.com for more information.
