A new support group begins this week for family members and friends of people experiencing substance abuse.

Sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Island Counseling Center, the support group, called Ripple, is for people over the age of 18. The aim of the program is to provide a safe space with information about recovery and treatment.

A series of six sessions is being planned, beginning March 3 and running through April 7.

The sessions will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the counseling center in the Community Services campus off the Edgartown Road.

Registration is required. To register or for more information, contact Jaime Schwab at 508-693-7900, extension 375 or email jschwab@mvcommunityservices.com.
