Plans are developing to establish a state-designated cultural district in Oak Bluffs, and all interested parties are invited to attend an informational meeting.

Arts Martha’s Vineyard and the Oak Bluffs Association will introduce the plans at a meeting on Tuesday, March 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Library.

The cultural districts initiative was introduced by the state legislature in 2010 as an economic development tool. On the Vineyard, the Vineyard Haven Harbor and Aquinnah Circle have been named cultural districts.

Building on that success, Arts MV and the Oak Bluffs Association hope to create and formalize a cultural district in Oak Bluffs, working with town businesses and cultural organizations. Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to attend the meeting to contribute their ideas.

Attendees are asked to RSVP by March 11 to Christine Flynn at the Martha’s Vineyard Commission; flynn@mvcommission.org or 508-693-3453 extension 13.
