The candidates have made their cases, drafted cancellation and return policy papers, and put their best plates forward. Now it’s your turn to make your voice heard. Voting for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine’s 2016 Best of the Vineyard competition ends at midnight on April 1.

This year’s contest features 85 awards in seven categories: Food & Drink, Entertainment & Events, Shopping, Great Outdoors, Health & Beauty, Lodging, and Services. The competition is steeper than ever. Thankfully, the voting process is easier too.

To cast your vote go to mvmagazine.com. Choose from the dropdown list of candidates or, if you don’t see your favorite, write in your own. This is, after all, the year for outsider campaigns.

Still can’t decide who deserves your support? You have three weeks left to organize friendly debates, shake shop owners’ hands, and sample all the beaches and lobster rolls. But don’t delay: at last count the ballot featured a whopping 39 entries for Best Chowder, 47 for Best Women’s Clothing, 49 for Best Burger, and 50 for Best Live Band or Musician. Proper voter research is not for the faint of stomach and heart.

Winners and runners up of the Best of the Vineyard competition will be published in the July issue of Martha’s Vineyard Magazine and at a party open to the public on June 9. The magazine, part of the Vineyard Gazette Media Group, has been sponsoring the Best of the Vineyard awards since 2001, carrying on a tradition begun by the Vineyard Gazette in 1996.

Voting is limited to one ballot per person. Winners are solely determined by readers’ votes, so make sure your opinion counts.
