Oh what a weekend we had. The birds were singing, the sun was shining, it was warm, it was a sign of spring. People were working in the yard. The crew from Donaroma’s was cleaning up Cannonball Park, people were walking the bike path, everyone was happy. It was a great tease of what is to come in a short time.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Isabelly Santana, who celebrated her day March 12; Brianna Oliveira and Margaret Sykes, March 17; and to Riley Jackson who celebrates his day today March 18.

Sunday morning I decided to treat myself to Espresso Love, for a cappuccino and bagel. I was going to come home but thought I would take advantage of the quiet town and went down to the dock.

I think there are times we all forget how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place. The harbor was like a mirror. There are only a couple of boats moored in the down harbor area so you can see all the way down to the beach. I then went to Memorial Wharf. The whale’s tail is still standing tall waiting for all the people to come and admire him and the dory is still covered. There was one person sitting having his breakfast on the benches. I looked towards the lighthouse and it was standing in its glory, against the blue sky and the calm water around it. I couldn’t help taking a picture of it even though I have a few in my camera already. How lucky we are to be surrounded by this beauty.

Easter is early this year. It will be here next week. Like Christmas we forget that it is a religious holiday. But, that being said, it is also time for the flowers, the Cadbury eggs, and of course the Easter Bunny.

I went to the nursery the other day and the tulips, daffodils and hyacinths are in. The aroma of all those flowers just puts you in the Easter mood. I relate it to the Stone Church in Vineyard Haven. My dad was the caretaker of the church and it was our family church, and every Easter the ladies would gather to set up the Easter lilies and the aroma filled the church so it was all you could smell. So when I get a whiff of those flowers it takes me right back to that time of my life.

I was working in the yard last Saturday and much to my surprise Joyce and Marge Look stopped to say hi. Marge is still in a wheelchair and still working on her physical therapy, but Joyce put her in the chair and went downtown for the St. Patrick’s Day activity at the Newes. She looks great and we had a nice chat and she was happy to be out and about.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
