Arbor Day is April 29, and to honor both the day and the memory of Herbert Hancock, Tea Lane Nursery will be donating and planting a tree at the Chilmark Community Center between 9 and 10 a.m.

Mr. Hancock, a beloved fisherman and longtime Chilmark selectman, died April 26, 2001 at age 71.

This is the same time that the Chilmark School kids celebrate May Day, so the tree planting will be in good company with a maypole and all sorts of spring activities in the air.
