Three lucky mothers whose children wrote prize-winning essays about them were honored Sunday at the Harbor View Hotel.

The annual Mom of the Year essay contest, sponsored by Rosewater Market & Take Away, is part of the Edgartown Board of Trade’s Pink and Green Weekend celebration.

Built around Mother’s Day, the weekend event heralds the arrival of the spring season on the Vineyard.

Connor McGrath wrote an essay about his mother, Cynthia McGrath.

This year, contest winners read their essays to their mothers at a brunch Sunday at the Harbor View.

The three winners were: Larissa Oliveira of Edgartown, who wrote about her mother, Erika Oliveira; Nicholas Rabeni of Edgartown, who wrote about his mother, Becky Rabeni; and Connor McGrath of Oak Bluffs, who wrote about his mother, Cynthia McGrath.
