All of our 11 kittens are growing like weeds and are as playful as can be. They are keeping everyone entertained with their kitten antics. The older litter has been spayed and neutered in preparation for going home with their new families.
The shelter would like to extend a big thank you to the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Spay/Neuter Wagon, which visited the shelter on Wednesday, May 18. While here they spayed or neutered seven dogs and 11 cats. If you would like to put your name on the list for their next visit in the fall please contact your local animal control officer.
Although we appreciate all the donations of towels and linens, we have more than enough at this time so please donate them somewhere else for the time being.
Lastly, the shelter would like to remind all pet owners that we are now at the height of tick season so make sure to stay current with your preventative measure of choice. Additionally, with the warmer weather coming please remember how quickly temperatures rise in a closed vehicle. Please do not leave your pets in a possibly deadly situation.
Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
Contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539 or visit animalshelterofmv.org.
