We could not complain about most of the weekend weather except for Monday with the parade and traveling. But for the most part it was sunny and warm and people were smiling.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Aysily Oteri, who celebrated her day May 30; Finlee Callen, May 31; Isabella Silva, June 1; Jonathan Deoliveria and Kyle Levy, June 2; and to Kaleb Hatt and Desiree London, who celebrate their day Friday June 3.

I have to say if this past weekend is any indication of what the summer is going to be, we are going to be in for one heck of a summer. The nursery was busy, the Stop & Shop had nonstop lines, the traffic was huge and town was buzzing.

It was great to see friends come down for the weekend. Carol Goldberg was here to open her house and get her garden started. And so it was for everyone else in the nursery, and there should be some beautiful gardens popping up anytime now.

When I was in college and working part time at a local store I went into work to find one of my coworkers all dressed up. He said he was going to a christening and to see his family because weddings, funerals and christenings are the only time you see family and friends. Well, over the years I have found how true that is, especially when the family keeps growing.

I attended the celebration of Barbara Polleys’ life. I was able to visit with her family and saw many of her friends and thought how true that statement was. Even if you try to get family together for just a gathering, not all can attend or the kids are away. How great would it be if families took just one day a year and said this is the day we will get our whole family together to just visit and catch up? I don’t know it is just a thought. Life is just too short to miss out on family.

June 4 is the Relay for Life at the high school track. The event is only one day and ends at 10 p.m. that night. It is a great cause and full of activities for all and a chance to catch up with people you may not have seen for a while.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
