The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School has been named state senior high school of the year and national senior high school runner up for a sustainability project.

The school’s MVironment club received the honors from The National Energy Education Development Project. The club was honored for their project sustainability by design, which explored the value of locally-grown food when it comes to conserving energy resources.

The group also learned about hydroponic energy systems and held after-school sessions and workshops to teach elementary and middle school students to build hydroponic systems.
