This summer, Polly Hill Arboretum meets Jurassic Park with their new prehistoric exhibit. We’re not talking about Tyrannosaurus, Diplodocus, or Stegosaurus, but rather the plants that were here more than 200 million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. This is an arboretum, after all.

Dinosaur Plants is a new self-guided family-friendly exhibit that will be available every day this summer from sunrise to sunset at the arboretum. A special map guides visitors to plants with origins in the Triassic, Jurassic, or Cretaceous periods within the Mesozoic Era. While dinosaurs went extinct, plants persisted. Check out ferns, dawn redwood, monkey puzzle trees, gingko, and magnolia, which were all around at the time of the dinosaurs. Some plants have evolved, while others remain much the same as they were when dinosaurs munched on their leaves.

Fossils, a timeline, and other interesting facts will be available at the arboretum’s visitor center.
