The second play of the summer season begins with previews on July 1 at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse.
Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage officially opens at the playhouse on July 7. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Set in Brooklyn in 1950, the play tells the story of a year in the life of Godfrey Crump and his two teenaged daughters, Ernestine and Ermina.
The play is set in the McCarthy era but also speaks to today’s politically charged climate.
