The Hon. Jeh Johnson will be the featured speaker at Union Chapel this Sunday, July 3. Mr. Johnson is the Secretary of Homeland Security and he will speak to the congregation about his 50 years as a Vineyard vacationer. Mr. Johnson was appointed by President Obama on Dec. 23, 2013. Previously, he was general counsel of the Department of Defense from 2009 through 2012. From October 1998 to January 2001, Mr. Johnson served in the Clinton administration as general counsel of the Department of the Air Force.

Mr. Johnson is a native New Yorker, and in private life has been a corporate lawyer with the New York city-based law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a 1979 graduate of Morehouse College, a 1982 graduate of Columbia Law School and the recipient of nine honorary degrees.

Union Chapel is a non-denominational church and is located at the intersection of Kennebec, Circuit and Narragansett avenues. The organ prelude begins at 9:40 a.m. and the worship at 10:00 a.m.
