On Thursday, July 21, the Summer Speaker Series at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center features Karen Wilson-Freeman, the mayor of Gary, Ind. and Stephen Henderson from the Detroit Free Press. The discussion will be on race, the police and rebuilding broken cities.
Ms. Wilson-Freeman is the first African-American female mayor in the State of Indiana. Mr. Henderson won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary and the 2014 Journalist of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists.
The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. at 130 Center street, Vineyard Haven.
