Can everyone say HOT! Well that was the word of the week. We had the humidity to go along with it and then it was just hot. Some people loved it, some did not care and then there were people who just could not wait for it to go away. Either way this is summer in New England and who knows, it could snow tomorrow.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Talia Young who celebrated her day July 19; Judah Levy, July 20; and to Claire Cabral who celebrated her day July 21.

Every Tuesday night the Library holds concerts on the lawn from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Next Tuesday Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish will be performing.

I went away this weekend to attend a family party to celebrate the high school graduation for my great niece Alexandra Jehns. She graduated in June in Chicago, but as you know the timing in New England does not allow a whole family to attend, so her grandparent’s, my brother Frank and sister in law Linda, held a family party. It was a great time and there were four generations of Nobles present. It was then that I realized I became my mother, and my cousin Nancy had become my Aunt Cora, who was as close as Nancy and I. We laughed and talked and reminisced and loved watching the youngest generation bond, some meeting for the first time. Things like this should happen more often. Coming home Sunday night while I waited for the boat I watched the sun getting ready to set in Woods Hole. The boat arrived and I was the first or second person in line at the plank to get on. The door opened to let the passengers off and for the next 10, yes 10 minutes, we watched a world full of people get off the boat. When I got on the boat I said to one of the ship’s employees, “I didn’t think the passengers were ever going to stop getting off.” He said there were 800 passengers on board. I think after that trip the Island rose up two inches.

Don’t forget, if you want something different to do you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset tour on Sengekontacket Pond. Relax, unwind and appreciate the painted sky like never before while paddling the waters. As the sun sets, see the natural world come to tranquil peace as you float and relish the view. You can enjoy the tour on Wednesdays until Sept. 28. Times vary, so call for the schedule.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
