The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $266,642.60 for the business week ending on Friday, July 22, 2016. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.

Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Chilmark, where one transaction resulted in $152,000. Six transactions earned $54,162.60 in Edgartown. One transaction earned $30,500 in Aquinnah. One transaction generated $11,980 in Oak Bluffs. One transaction earned $11,300 in West Tisbury, and one transaction resulted in $6,700 in Tisbury.

The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,243 acres of Vineyard land.
