Summer is in full swing on the Vineyard. The President is here and the fair, fireworks, and Illumination Night are on the horizon. Here's what's going on this weekend. 

Built on Stilts is an eight-night dance phenomenon that features 40 to 60 pieces over two weeks. This year's event takes place August 11 to August 14 and August 20 to August 23 at the Tabernacle. Dancers from five to 80 will participate. 

Friday night former state Rep. Patrick Kennedy will speak at the Old Whaling Church from 7 to 9 p.m. about his personal and political battles with mental illness and addiction. The event is a fundraiser for Martha's Vineyard Community Services and the Joseph Jermone Memorial Fund. 

The Harlem Art Show, which features more than 40 artists, began its annual four-day event on Thursday, August 11 at the Harbor View Hotel. 

Anne Cook's oil and pastels artwork will be on display at the Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank in Chilmark through August 25, with an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday. 

The Tony-award winning play Red explores the relationship between abstract expressonist painter Mark Rothko and a fictitious apprentice. The play opened Thursday at the Martha's Vineyard Playhouse and runs Tuesdays through Saturdays until Sept. 3. 

The 39th annual Chilmark Road Race steps off Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. on Middle Road. Check out Jack Lionette, 11, navigate the tough 5K race; last year he was the fourth-fastest Islander of any age. 

The blueberry festival was a blast, the strawberry festival was sensational, now it is time for the peach festival. Get a taste of all things peach at the West Tisbury Congregational Church from noon to 4 p.m. at the church. 

Check out A Studio Guide to Nature, an exhibit by artists and sisters Lucy and Julia Mitchell, at the A Gallery through August 17. 

The Cup of Karma project's ninth tea talk will take place Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Camp Jabberwocky. 

Livingston Taylor's last show of the summer is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Whaling Church, featuring special guests Isaac Taylor and Chelsea Berry. 

Kristin Chenoweth, the Tony and Emmy-award winning performer known for her role as Glinda in Wicked and several television roles, will take the stage Sunday night at the Performing Arts Center at 8:30 p.m. 

On Sunday award-winning reporter and New Yorker staff writer Jane Mayer will speak at the Chilmark Community Center as part of the Martha's Vineyard Book Festival Author Series. She will discuss, among other things, her most recent book Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaries Behind the Rise of the Radical Right. The talk begins at 7:30 p.m. and Ms. Mayer will be interviewed by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tony Horwitz of West Tisbury.

The Sargent Gallery will host an opening reception for the Art and Nature exhibit on Sunday from to 5 to 7 p.m.
