A new exhibit at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum explores the faithful tradition of Camp Meetings all around the U.S. including the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs.

This Far by Faith is a traveling exhibition designed by professor Minuette Floyd of the University of South Carolina and sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. The exhibition is supplemented with objects, photographs and stories of the Island’s past camp meetings that drew crowds each summer. Visitors can dive into seven camp grounds in the south, and learn how they are different from camp meetings in Oak Bluffs.

The exhibit is open at the museum galleries in Edgartown through Oct. 9. Visit mvmuseum.org for more information.
