Molly Fair McAlvanah and John Michael O’Toole will marry Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Federated Church of Edgartown.

The bride is the daughter of William and Florence McAlvanah of Montclair, N.J. She is a first grade teacher in the Washington, D.C., public school system.

The bridegroom, who grew up in Hopkinton, is the son of Sheila O’Toole of Ipswich and the late Michael O’Toole. He is a senior contract administrator for PD Systems, Inc, in Alexandria, Va. The bride and bridegroom are graduates of James Madison University.

Ms. McAlvanah’s family has vacationed in Martha’s Vineyard for over 35 years. While in college, she worked for several summers in the children’s program at the West Chop Club in Vineyard Haven. The couple, who met as undergraduates, were engaged in June 2015 while visiting the Island with both of their families.
