The shelter is delighted to report that Kyra, the spectacular Native American shepherd dog, has found her forever home. A wonderful family from Southport, Conn. has taken her into their home, and that home has the large fenced yard that she needs. It was love at first sight for all parties, and they will be able to shower her with the affection she deserves. Our pretty little calico cat, Lacey, has been adopted as well.
There are also some adoptions about to happen for two of our orange felines. Turns out that Albert’s name is really Tiger and he will be going back to his family shortly. And Max, the lover with a cute way of lifting his front paws, has found a forever home as well.
Currently in the cat room waiting for someone to love is four-year-old buff and white Lefty, a big boy who loves to play. ZZ is another buff and white male who is only three and on the shy side, but volunteers are working to help build his confidence. We know that his shyness is caused by his dismay at being at the shelter; he is a very sweet cat who will blossom once he finds his home. And the other big orange and white male, Chappy, is biding his time in the cat condo waiting for someone to love him.
There are also two females residents in the cat room. Cee Cee has long black fur tipped with silver, a real stunner. She is six to seven years old and just wants to share her love with you. And three-year-old Doris may be the friendliest tortoiseshell on the planet. She’s extremely affectionate and loves people. Could either of these girls fill that void in your life?
And three-year-old black and gray tabby Cody is still in the lobby greeting visitors while hoping someone will come for him. He is also a large boy, friendly, loves spending his time with people, and gets along with dogs.
Lastly, the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s spay/neuter wagon will be at the shelter on Wednesday, Sept. 21. If you would like to have your dog or cat spayed or neutered please contact your local animal control officer. Their next visit is scheduled for November.
Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
