The shelter would like to invite everyone to join us Saturday, Oct. 1 (rain date Oct. 2) for the annual Walk for the Animals from 10 a.m. until noon. Registration will be open from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the Edgartown School parking lot, or register at the shelter website, animalshelterofmv.org, or Facebook page. Pre-registration is also available at the shelter Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. so you can begin to request pledges that support the shelter. The suggested donation is $10. Remember that dogs must be kept on a leash, and participants are required to clean up after their pets. Everyone will receive a doggie bandana and other goodies. We hope to see you there.

Our nine black and gray tabby kittens are growing rapidly and are as sweet as can be. They might be silver Bengal mixes with their spotted markings. The first litter, Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice, is approximately eight weeks old. The second litter is only about six weeks, three boys and two girls, named Manny, Moe, Jack, Charlotte and Emily. If you are interested in a kitten please contact us to have your name added to the list.

The cat room has a pretty equal mix of males and females. Year-old Siamese mix Whitey’s name has been changed to Bianca, much more fitting. She is beautiful, very affectionate, a real purrer and a lap cat. Eight-year-old calico Lacey is about the most affectionate calico we’ve ever met. She has the cutest markings on her face, like she‘s been in pumpkin pie eating contest. Our other two females are three-year-old Doris, an atypical tortoiseshell who is extremely affectionate and loves people, and Cee Cee, a stunning frosted tip about six or seven years old. Does anyone have a place in their hearts for any of these girls? They would all be great additions to any home. And we also have three boys in the cat room waiting for someone to love. ZZ is a sweet buff and white three-year-old, a bit on the shy side but responding well to volunteers. He is affectionate, sweet, and calm, and we are confident he will blossom once at his forever home. And someone must be out there to fall in love with four-year-old, buff and white Lefty, a big, handsome boy who loves to play. The other big orange and white male, Chappy, is biding his time in the cat condo waiting for someone to love him. He needs a family who understand cats.

Last, but not least, is three year old black and gray tabby Cody. He is a large, friendly boy who loves spending his time with people and gets along with dogs. He has been spending his time in the lobby with the staff and volunteers while greeting visitors. Come by to see if he could be the love of your life.
