Edgartown selectmen Monday approved a revised license suspension for an Edgartown scalloper.

Angela Fisher appealed the one-week suspension of her commercial bay scalloping license, noting that the entire week would take place during scallop season. According to shellfish constable Paul Bagnall, fishermen Nick and David Viera received a month’s suspension for their licenses, with one week of that month taking place during scallop season.

With the Vieras serving 25 per cent of their suspension during scallop season, the shellfish committee voted 4-1 to revise Ms. Fisher’s suspension so she would serve a quarter of the time, or a day and a half, during the scallop season.

Town selectmen agreed to the adjusted suspension.

Mr. Bagnall also reported that the bay scallop season is off to a good start, with 90 commercial permits issued so far.

In other business, selectmen appointed Heidi Boyd to the board of directors for the Edgartown Council on Aging.

The board was also invited to come see the town’s restored 1855 Button hand-drawn fire pumper, also known as the hand tub, which is returning to the Island Thursday after a full restoration.

In 2014 town meeting voters approved $15,000 in Community Preservation Act for the restoration. The tub will be on display at the fire museum on Pease’s Point Way South.

Board administrative assistant Kristy Rose said the truck was supposed to be returned in time for the Fourth of July parade but repairs took longer than anticipated.

“It’s a pretty full restoration,” she said. “I can’t wait to see it.”
