Brandy Brow, the hillside conservation property at the entrance to West Tisbury, was planted with 500 spring bulbs on Sunday, courtesy of the Monday night knitters, who gathered to plant them under the leadership of Cathy Minkiewicz of Indian Hill.

Over the years, bulbs have been planted at Brandy Brow, but they had faded and its was Cathy’s idea to spiff up the little park up again, Virginia Jones told the Gazette in an email over the weekend.

Situated across from the Mill Pond, the park has an interesting history. It was once the site of a tavern.

In the 1920s, the property was purchased by Frances Newhall Woods for a village green in memory of her mother Virginia Whiting Newhall. A wayfarer’s bench and a bronze memorial plaque were added. In the 1980s the Woods family donated Brandy Brow to the town.

A footpath leads from the pond up to the Brow.

Or next spring, just follow the daffodils.
