The weather was ideal for Election Day and yet the results were rather disastrous on many levels. Makes one enjoy not having television to listen to all the time. And programming my new telephone will be on hold for a while longer. For now, back to more realistic goals for the winter.
On a better note, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. Honor Veterans who have served and those who are presently serving.
At the Aquinnah Public Library this week story time is at 10:30 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is kids craft: watercolor leaves. Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 4 p.m. is after-school club. Coming up on Thursday the 17th book group will discuss At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen.
Peter Temple would like to remind residents that a free dinner and the second affordable housing workshop next Monday, Nov. 14 at Old Town Hall. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m., followed by the workshop at 7 p.m. You don’t have to bring food to the dinner but you can if you want to. The workshop will shape the housing and zoning policies used to create housing people can afford, and attendance at the first workshop is not required. At this one, the group will review and discuss a draft vision statement based on community input at the September workshop and develop goals and strategies to achieve that vision. The Martha’s Vineyard Museum presents at the Howes House in West Tisbury the third Monday of every month. On Nov. 21, museum docents Nancy Cabot, Bonnie George, and Linda Vadasz will make a presentation about the Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. Now that daylight saving time has arrived, Allison Colarusso Parry’s Mindful Healing Qigong classes have moved from 4 to a new time of 5 p.m. on Monday afternoon at the Howes House. Free class, donations only.
Kristina Leslie has returned from her two-week adventure in Los Angeles and San Clemente, Calif. with her daughters Samantha and Jennifer and their families.
Ken Wentworth and Liz Witham have headed to Micronesia for a film project over the next two weeks.
