Housing on Martha’s Vineyard and a vision for the future takes center stage again this week with a second round of workshops in every Island town. The housing production plan workshops are being sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Commission.
The three-part series of workshops began early this fall. The final round will be held in December. The schedule for this week is as follows:
Monday: West Tisbury, 4 p.m. at the public safety building. Aquinnah, 7 p.m. at the old town hall (community dinner begins at 6:30).
Tuesday: Edgartown, 5:30 p.m. in the Menemsha room at the Harbor View Hotel.
Wednesday: Oak Bluffs, 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Chilmark, 7 p.m. in the town library.
Thursday: Tisbury, 6 p.m. in the town senior center.
Town residents are urged to attend.
Vision statements have been prepared for each town from the first round of workshops. Town by town, the statements articulate utopian visions for creating more vibrant affordable housing options for residents while still preserving the Vineyard’s natural resources. Among other things, developing Islandwide solutions was a prevalent theme.
The vision statements and summaries of results of the first workshops appear in full on the Martha’s Vineyard Commission website.
