Two days in a row a long-sleeved shirt has been enough for the outside. Of course, the afternoon cools off real fast but for the most part it has been warm and there have been no complaints.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week.

Special wishes go out to Audrey McCarron who turns 17 on Nov. 17, and to her brother Greg who turns 19 on Nov. 20.

Well the nursery is now empty of perennials and the only thing left is a few fall plants. However, by the time you read this we will have our greens in and wreath and the poinsettias. Some of you may say this is early but you would be surprised at we have people asking for wreaths already. So here we go.

The Federated Church in Edgartown will hold its seventh annual Festival of Wreaths on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the parish house and meetinghouse in Summer street in Edgartown.

Visit the meetinghouse to see the 75 originally designed, hand decorated natural wreaths, for home or business. Enjoy the wonderful smell of fresh cut evergreens. If you decide to purchase one of the wreaths, they are for sale at $45, $55 and $65, depending on your generosity. Proceeds from this event help maintain and preserve the 1832 Sara Mayhew Parsonage, an important home in the Edgartown historic district.

I have to say that social media can get a lot of things going like the election and everyone’s opinion of who is good and who was bad for our country, bad parking on MV etc. However, there are times like this week when the moon has been in its most glorious state that there have been some beautiful pictures that people have shared. We are so lucky that we can see these sights so clearly. I hope you all got a chance to see it for yourself as it was a spectacular event.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
