Now that Thanksgiving is but a memory in the belly and perhaps leftovers in the fridge, full attention can be paid to the next holiday. On Wednesday, Nov. 30, Oak Bluffs leads the way with its annual tree lighting ceremony in Post Office Square.

The event is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and includes hot chocolate, music by the Vineyard Brass Ensemble and antlers for all. What better way than to welcome Santa, yes he will be there too, than with a group of would-be reindeers ready to step up and help him guide his sleigh, if need be.

Santa arrives aboard the Oak Bluffs fire truck accompanied by the music of the Brian Wieland Band.

Everyone is asked to get in the spirt of the season by bringing a gift of food for the Island Food Pantry, which Santa and his helpers will bring to the food pantry in time for the holidays.
