Mvyradio producer Laurel Redington was honored earlier this month by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association for a feature story she produced about addiction.

Ms. Redington received a Sound Bite award for a story about author and Vineyard summer resident Anita Devlin who wrote a book with her son chronicling his battle with addiction.

The story originally aired on WMVY in fall 2015 as part of the radio station’s weekly news program The Vineyard Current.

Ms. Redington has served in various roles at WMVY since 1991, and she is now a producer focusing on community outreach and creating weekly programs like The Vineyard Current. She also leads the station’s efforts to teach broadcasting skills to students.

The award was handed out at a ceremony in Framingham.
