Boston got snow; we got rain, drizzle and chills. But we are holding out for snow for Christmas. We have been liking the sun days but boy does it cool down quick when the sun goes down.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I am now making a New Year’s resolution to have the birthday list back soon.

It is getting a little nerve-wracking that Christmas is just a few weeks away. Every year we say next year I am going to be ready, but as usual I am rushing around and panicking. But this year my family is doing the Secret Santa, and that sure does take down some of the panic.

On Friday head to Donaroma’s for the Enchanted Forest event. I like to call it the Grand Opening of Christmas in Edgartown. The employees have been working for weeks to put up the thousands of lights for your pleasure. I saw on Facebook that a friend called it “our own Rockefeller Center.” So join us if you can. If you cannot attend tonight, the lights will be on now through the first of the year. Keep an eye open for the sign that tells you what radio station to turn your radio to so you can watch the trees dance to the tunes. There is something for everyone.

The Friends of the Edgartown Library will be selling autographed copies of Margot Datz’s book, Nighttide on a Vineyard Farm, on Saturday at the crafts fair at the school. The proceeds will help fund a marine life mural, which Margot will paint in the children’s room at the library. The Friends will also sell their History of the Library book and book bags to benefit programs. All make perfect gifts! Both books and bags are also available at the library.

The third and final in the series of Housing Production Plan meetings are next week. Each town will examine special maps showing vacant town land and will identify specific lots or areas for allowing: zoning changes to create affordable opportunities; innovative housing types; and re-purposing of existing structures.

You can still be heard and help determine the housing and zoning policies we’ll use to create housing opportunities for people of all income levels! You can attend in Edgartown on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Harbor View Hotel.

I hope you all get a chance to get out and enjoy some of the activities this weekend. It is always fun to see the crafts, and all the decorations in town. The spirits are always high and there is something for everyone.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
