Marsha Winsryg works with egg tempera, a method of painting quite common until about 1500 AD, when the invention of oil painting took the lead. Her husband Paul Karasik is a cartoonist, with much of his work appearing in The New Yorker. He is also a writer and teacher, helping the next generation of cartoonists find their funny bones.
The husband and wife creative duo are joining forces out of the home for an ongoing exhibit at MVTV, located at 58 Edgartown/Vineyard Haven Road. There will be an opening celebration on Friday, Dec. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The show includes Paul’s original cartoons from The New Yorker, Edible Vineyard and Martha’s Vineyard Magazine, and Marsha’s egg tempera paintings of Martha’s Vineyard and Tuscany.
The exhibit continues through Jan. 30, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
