I really don’t have to say anything about the weather. I think we all feel the same as to when it will make up its mind to be warm or cold. One minute rain, next three inches of snow, then it is 52 degrees. Welcome to New England.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Hope the days were all you wanted them to be.

I don’t know how many years ago it was when Annie Hale Long walked into Dukes County Savings Bank and came to my teller station and asked me if I would be interested in writing the Edgartown column for the Gazette. I first said, are you crazy what do I know about writing a column for the paper? She slowly convinced me that I could do it, and so as you know I said yes.

Annie and I go back a long time. She lived on Hines Point, I lived on Skiff avenue, so we saw each other in passing. Her brother Phil was in my class, but our main connection was horses. Then in the past years her husband Ray and Ralph hunted together at times, and Annie and I were on the same page with that. They could hunt but we did not want to hear about it or any talk about the animal we were about to feast on. It had to be wrapped like it just came from the Stop & Shop.

So now I am dealing with this lady on Facebook as she shows pictures of her decadent cooking. Cakes that make your mouth water and the last one a chocolate tart that made you want to jump through the computer and steal a piece. She even has me writing about it in my column that she convinced me to write. Keep cooking Annie; I am glad you are happy in your life and able to keep your family happy. Even though I have threatened your life, you know I still love you.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and get to spend some time with family. Please remember those who are not as lucky as we are. Also, please remember those who are serving our country and are not able to spend time at home or are away from home for the first time to keep us safe.
