Christmas week has gone from freezing cold to the warmth of temperatures in the 50s. We always used to wish for a white Christmas but who needs the snow these days. The winds have returned and snow will probably be here later this week.

The Aquinnah Christmas party on Dec. 23 was a fun evening for all the children in town. Santa was rather jovial and entertained one and all. Perhaps next year he will arrive aboard Tomahawk Charters rather than the fire truck. Great job Captain Buddy.

On Saturday, Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Aquinnah Public Library there will be time for sharing stories from the collection.

The Neighborhood Convention will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society in Vineyard Haven. The program will be Conversations with Clergy. Each person brings their bag lunch, and the host church serves beverages and dessert. The entire offering received each month is directed to Island charities. Please note a change in the previously scheduled location.

Natalie Francis spent Christmas in Falmouth with her children Anthony, Louis, and Paula, as well as their significant others.

Paul Henry Jeffers-Mayhew arrived home this week from his sophomore year studies at U-Mass Boston.

Happy New Year to one and all. As we begin 2017, it will be the start of an interesting year as we watch it all unfold. So glad I reside in New England. May we all find peace and happiness as we celebrate the new year.

Alexander James Milavsky parties on Jan. 5 and shares the day with Francis Brown. Kaitlyn Joy Vanderhoop will be 11 on Jan. 6. Nancy Cotton will observe her special day on Jan. 6.
