Steamship Authority governors paid tribute to retiring board member Robert O’Brien this month December meeting, who is retiring from the board after 25 years of service as the Barnstable member.

Mr. O’Brien was recognized for the role he played in shaping SSA capital projects during his tenure. Gov. Charlie Baker issued a citation commending Mr. O’Brien, as did senior members of the Massachusetts legislature.

Falmouth governor and board chairman Elizabeth Gladfelter called Mr. O’Brien “a voice of reason, wisdom and tolerance during good times and bad.”

He will be succeeded by Robert Jones.
