Did someone say snow? Yes we got a little. It was exciting, it was pretty and the kids certainly enjoyed it. Now that it is getting dirty and yucky it can go away.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week.

I had the pleasure of having Ella Blodgett for the weekend during the storm. Ella and her parents became a large part of my life after Ralph died. They help me when I need it and we eat dinner a lot together and take care of each other. Ella is 10 years old and has grown in front of my eyes. She loves coming to my house. I take her on Friday nights during the winter so her parents can have some down time and eat dinner actually together.

So needless to say it was great to have her as a companion during the storm. We hunkered down to a movie and some laughing, then planned the next day’s activity. She got up and made “egg in a cup” which her mother makes on school mornings for her and she got that from her grandmother Isabella Jackson. So I felt a bit spoiled. Then it was on to homemade chocolate chip cookies. She is really a great little cook and we enjoyed her creations. Ella decided she wanted to stay another night so I had “egg in a cup” again. So now we will see what this weekend brings. I hear word that chocolate-covered caramels are in the planning.

As we have all finished with our holiday, Sandy and Vinny Alestra have just finished with theirs. It seems they have had three separate celebrations. The first was with daughter Karen, her husband Matt Coyne and their two children Maverick and Kolten. Then after Christmas, son Mike, his wife Donna Rogers and sons Andrew and Parker came from Rhode Island to celebrate. This past weekend son Shaun Alestra and Elise Baldwin were here for their celebration.

I chuckle at this because as I have known Sandy for a very long time and know that the Christmas tree comes down right after Christmas, so this is a record and a very happy time for all.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
