As you have noticed, the days are getting thankfully longer; we now have more than 12 hours of daylight each day but the thermometer has not climbed above 46 degrees, in fact the cold persists.

Tom Hodgson and his wife Christine Gault of Tiasquam Road returned home last week after their annual month-long vacation in the southern zone of Costa Rica. They spent their last day with Deborah and Siren Mayhew, who were just coming in to the country.

Anna Alley, of State Road, returned home on Monday after a long weekend visiting her sister Nina and friends. She and Nina hosted a sleepover for grandson Henry Saturday night. She visited with the grandchildren Sunday.

Cathlin Baker reports that the Charter School will present Young King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone, which opens Saturday at the Katharine Cornell Theater. Shows are at 2 and 6 p.m. on Saturday and the final performance on Sunday is at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for family of four, or $6 per person.

Tara Whiting, town clerk, would like to remind voters that the town meeting is April 11 at 7 p.m. in the school gym. The town election is April 13, and the polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. Absentee ballots are available for those that are away that day and/or cannot make it to the polls. If you have any questions call her at 508-696-0148. Voters will be facing a 39-article warrant. There will be two contested offices on the election ballot.

The film at the library on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., sponsored by We Stand Together, is a documentary about the challenges facing people attempting to gain legal status.

On March 24, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Horace Athearn, of Crow Hollow, received word from their youngest son, Cpl. Clifton H. Athearn, telling them of his safe arrival in France. The Athearns had two other sons in the service. Lieut. Elmer W. Athearn of the Engineers’ Aviation Battalion was stationed somewhere in the South Pacific and Sgt. Leonard B. Athearn of the Air Transport Command was stationed in India.
