Saturday is April Fool’s Day and we have no idea if the shelter residents are planning any tricks for us. The staff and volunteers will definitely not be playing any tricks on the residents.

Rottweiler Buddy, aka Carl, really, really is hoping to find that new family soon. He needs someone to play ball with, his favorite pastime. He is a large dog with an especially gorgeous face and a great disposition. He walks well on a leash, is very smart and responds well to training. This boy loves to spend his time around people. He’s only four years old and still very puppy like. Stop in and meet him, maybe you’ll be charmed just like everyone at the shelter.

This week’s adoptions include Bee Bee, the beautiful gray male cat that resembles a Russian blue. And Lefty, the big buff and white cat, got lucky and is going to his forever home as well.

The cat room is currently home to three young female felines. The youngest is the sleek and long-legged Mary, who enjoys being held. Mary is just a year old and is a black and white tuxedo with a little milk stain above her right lip. Sweetie is a two-year-old dilute calico. She’s mostly gray with some pale orange markings and lovely golden eyes. And last, but of course not least, is super affectionate Tiger Lily. She is five, tabby and white, and sweet, sweet, sweet. Stop in and give this girl some much needed attention, and see if love blossoms.

Our only male cat is white and black Chaps, who now resides here as our shelter cat. Chaps is 11, very mellow, and doesn’t ask for much. And if a special relationship should form with Chaps we might allow him to leave us for a new forever home.

The annual rabies clinic will be held on April 1 this year. Hours here at the shelter are from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and at the West Tisbury Fire Station from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $20 per pet. In order to get a three-year vaccine you must show proof, in the form of a previous rabies certificate, that your pet has received a rabies vaccination in the past.
