Rottweiler Buddy has an adoption pending but is still available should the right person/family sweep in and fall for him. He is a big boy with an especially handsome face and a friendly disposition. He’s four years going on six months so training will need to be continued, but he’s very smart and does know the basics. This boy loves spending time with people and needs someone who can play ball with him, his favorite pastime. If you’re looking for a large dog this could be your perfect match.

This week’s adoption was of our chubby tabby and white kitty Tiger Lily. She has found a home with someone who adores her kisses. We wish them a long and happy life together.

We have three cats hoping to find their new forever homes. Sweetie is a two-year-old calico who loves to play. She is primarily pearl gray with some pale orange markings that match her lovely golden eyes. Sweetie, we believe, might prefer to be an only cat. Also available for adoption is a young black female named Licorice. She is very sweet, has a calm disposition, and adores affection. She has a lovely purr, and likes laps as well. Licorice would be a great addition to any home.

Our only male cat is white and black Chaps, who now resides here as our shelter cat. Chaps is only eleven, very mellow, and doesn’t ask for much. And if a special relationship should form with Chaps we might allow him to leave us for a new forever home.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Spay/Neuter Wagon will be here on Wednesday, April 19 and there are no spots left. However, their last visit of the season will be in May so please contact your local animal control officer if you would like to have a cat or dog spayed or neutered at that time.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. Please make checks out to Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539 or visit animalshelterofmv.org.
